CBSE to Introduce Three-Language Policy for Classes 9 and 10 from 2026-27

Описание: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the introduction of a three-language policy for Classes 9 and 10, effective from the 2026-27 academic year, with implementation beginning July 1. A circular has been issued to all affiliated schools, specifying that at least two of the three languages studied must be Indian languages. Until dedicated textbooks for Classes 9 and 10 are developed, students will use Class 6 textbooks for their chosen third language, with materials covering 19 official Indian languages to be made available before July 1. To ease the burden on students, CBSE has exempted the third language subject from the Class 10 board examinations, and detailed guidelines are expected to be released by the 15th of next month. CBSE stated that this decision was taken in alignment with the National Education Policy guidelines and to promote multilingual awareness among students.
