So, I bought new seats, untouched by any nefarious vandals cutting out foam to gain interior space. So, let's cut out foam to gain interior space. Also, I fix the handbrake lever poking my leg, and install a steering wheel spacer that allows me to actually turn the wheel without my knees being in the way.

As much as I think that working on your car is both great fun and very cost-effective, any work you do on your car is at your own risk. Don't do stupid things - don't work under a car supported only by a jack, don't use sharp tools without protective gloves, and do get yourself a nice pair of safety goggles.
