He performed with Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jon Vickers, José Carreras, sopranos Joan Sutherland, Monserrat Caballé, Renata Tebaldi, Renata Scotto Beverly Sills, Mirella Freni, among many other great singers. Louis Quilico, C.C. was an ideal interpreter of the great Italian and French composers, especially Giuseppe Verdi and he was often referred to as "Mr Rigoletto" in reference to the Verdi opera. Since his marriage to the celebrated Canadian concert pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico C.M, OOnt, FRSC the couple toured extensively, recorded 4 recital CDs, including Mr. Rigoletto: My Life in Music on Analekta, and collaborated on two books and a teaching video. Christina’s deep commitment to music education was shared with her late husband. To carry on his legacy of support for outstanding young singers, she created the Christina and Louis Quilico Award, administered by the Ontario Arts Foundation, in conjunction with the Canadian Opera Company (COC) and the COC Ensemble Studio.
