A 3-day hike through the remote Caucasus mountains – Lagodekhi National Park, Black Rock Lake. During three days I met only border guards, who once woke me up while I was sleeping in my tent. The trail can be challenging in rainy weather – steep and muddy – and in dry conditions there is no water on the route, so you need to carry it with you. I brought three 1.5 l bottles (two should also be enough). The lake water is drinkable.
Staying in the park shelter costs 30 GEL – you’ll find bunk beds with mattresses. Camping with your own tent inside the park costs 5 GEL. Important: it is not allowed to camp directly at Black Rock Lake because of the border zone. The guards even jokingly warned me that at night Russians might “recruit me into the army for $1000.”
This is one of the less popular trails, leading through very wild and remote areas. My hike was around 54 km (I started walking from the marshrutka bus stop). Along the way you’ll find camping spots, and after finishing the loop you can also stay at the campsite near the park entrance – it’s covered with a roof!
Enjoy the hike, and don’t forget to subscribe for more adventures ✨

Trzydniowy trekking w odludnych rejonach Kaukazu – Lagodekhi National Park, Black Rock Lake.
