UDP accepts Robertjune's resignation, denies internal rift

Описание: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has accepted the resignation of senior party leader Robertjune Kharjahrin and maintained that there is no division within the party following his exit.

Speaking to reporters, UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh said the party respects Kharjahrin's decision and has nothing further to add regarding the reasons cited in his resignation letter.

"Everyone has the freedom to think in whatever way they feel. We have received the resignation letter and, as far as the party is concerned, we respect the decision made by him and have accepted his resignation," Lyngdoh said.

Responding to suggestions of internal differences within the party, Lyngdoh dismissed such claims, stating that Kharjahrin's resignation should not be interpreted as evidence of a split in the party.

"There is no division. We have received his resignation letter and accepted it. I do not see any differences within the party as being suggested," he said.

On concerns raised by the UDP Shillong City unit over recent party decisions, Lyngdoh said party members have the right to express their views and that the party provides adequate platforms for discussion, consultation and dialogue on internal matters.
