Krefeld (until November 25, 1925 Crefeld) is a large city on the left bank of the Rhine on the Lower Rhine. The independent city in the administrative district of Düsseldorf is also known as the “velvet and silk city” due to the silk fabric production of the 18th and 19th centuries. At the end of 2019, Krefeld took 14th place among the major cities in North Rhine-Westphalia with around 227,500 inhabitants. The regional center is part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region and the Rhineland metropolitan region.
We start our walk through the city Center.
