This video walks through the Jewish legal minimum weekday Shacharit (the morning service) for moments when you have limited time but still want to pray the essentials.
In this follow-along video, we move slowly through the key parts of the service so you can pray with me if that’s helpful. The sequence includes:
0:00 - Introduction
0:18 - Birkot HaShachar
2:25 - Shema and its blessings
14:08 - The Amidah
Sometimes the morning is rushed. Work, family, and life make it hard to pray the full service. This version focuses on the essential elements of the weekday morning prayers so that even on a busy day, you can still fulfill the core obligations of Shacharit.
I've written on the question of what is considered obligatory and what can be shortened, which you can find here: https://www.exploringjudaism.org/ever... and is based on the following teshuvah: https://www.rabbinicalassembly.org/si...
The wording and structure I use here is based on the liturgical tradiiton of the Conservative / Masorti siddur, though it is important to note that different communities and denominations sometimes use different customs that change word choice, spelling, and related details.
99% of the words in this video are traditional and shared across most denominations. Individuals sometimes make informed changes as well, depending on their customs.
I tried my best to avoid mistakes in the text and presentation, but it is always possible that there are some.
If you're interested in going deeper, I will also be creating a separate video that explains the structure and meaning of the Shacharit prayers in the siddur, including how these sections fit into the larger service.
Whether you’re learning to pray for the first time, returning to daily prayer, or simply trying to stay connected to davening on busy mornings, I hope this helps.
