The South Korean self-propelled artillery K-9 demonstrated outstanding capabilities when the North Korean army shelled the South's Yeonpyeongdo Island in 2010. It's the core fire power of the the South Korean military. More than 900 K-9 units are placed on northwest islands and the frontlines. The K-9 artillery recently drew global spotlight at Europe's largest land defense exhibition where 1,600 companies from 70 countries participated.

Having a shooting range of 40km, the K-9 is equipped with an automatic reloading system that enables this weapon to fire six shots per minute and move at up to 67km an hour, which explains its superb firing capability and maneuverability. However, it costs half as much as similarly produced weapons in other countries. Sources say negotiations for exporting the K-9 artillery to seven countries in northern Europe and Asia are currently underway.

Once the decision to export the K-9 self-propelled artillery is finalized, Korean weapons will be able to expand their presence in the global defense market.
