Hi.
For all patterns with an edge around the shawl, I've been using the Wrap &Turn technique.
The benefit is that the edge can be knit continuously, no short rows.
It also gives a nice corner because all the rows fan out and get full length when blocked.
In the patterns are descriptions on how many to do and how often or where to start.
In a visually oriented world, a tutorial can be very supportive. You can stop and pause to really take a good look. With a finer yarn, this can be more tricky than in a sock yarn.
The technique can be used with any type of yarn, and it doesn't even matter how many stitches there are in the edge. Can be 5 or 35.
It all revolves, literally, around the last stitch of the edge and the (next) picked up loop on the left-hand needle.
So, give it a try. make a sample, use any yarn and matched needles, and go for it!
