In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip on my Brompton as...
I started the day in Lyon, where train delays had stranded me in the previous episode. After a restful night at a hotel, I indulged in a breakfast that was absolutely worth it: scrambled eggs, chicken breast, croissants, fresh fruits like pineapple and kiwi, cheeses, and premium yogurts. Though I regretted not exploring Lyon more the night before, I learned it’s not only France’s third-largest city but also a hub for techno culture with a vibrant music scene.
Rushing to catch my train to Geneva, I made promise to return to Lyon someday for a longer stay.
In Geneva, I had 40 minutes before my connecting train, so I hopped on my Brompton to explore the city. The clean water of Lake Geneva and the fresh air were a treat, but the city’s frustrating traffic lights slowed me down.
On the train to Munich, I faced strict Swiss train rules about storing my Brompton but managed to tuck it between seats. After a brief stop in Bregenz, Austria, I enjoyed cycling along Lake Constance, where everything felt pristine—the green grass, local food, and peaceful vibe.
Finally, I arrived in Munich, where overcrowded trains, thanks to Germany’s €9 ticket offer, made the journey challenging.
After checking into my hotel, I reflected on the whirlwind trip. The next morning, I had a amazing Bavarian breakfast and caught my last train home.
The journey ended with a curious moment: witnessing an argument between an immigrant family and a local on the train.
This concludes my bike touring series! I hope you’ve enjoyed coming along for the ride, and I can’t wait to share my next adventure with you in the future. See you in the next season!
