Taking another look back to my trip to Saskatchewan in the late summer of 2022, this video starts at Keppel, a place west of Saskatoon where CN's Watrous sub parallels the CP Wilkie sub quite closely. While I didn't see any CP trains here, it was a neat location in the rolling sandhills of western Saskatchewan and I managed to catch a few CN trains on a scorching hot day. The next day, I made my way east from Saskatoon, checking out some grain elevators east of town (not filmed), before coming across a meet at Young on the CN Watrous sub. A westbound loaded sand train had CN 3023 (EJ&E heritage unit) as the leader, while an eastbound freight had a pair of SD75I's for power and a little bit of everything in the consist. I also managed to catch Cando switching the Mosaic potash mine at Neely, just south of CP's Wynyard sub. From there, I followed CP train 242 as it switched the yard at Wynyard, met the westbound local from Nipawin, and then departed town. Finally, as I drove to Portage la Prairie that evening, I came across a westbound loaded potash train on the CP Broadview sub near Moosomin.
This was a fun couple of days exploring the vast expanse of the Canadian prairies and I met some very friendly locals along the way. As always, thank you for watching!
