“Hey Commissioner, listen. Order a chicken shawarma for me and a diet cold drink too. I am hungry,” the girl said carelessly.
Commissioner Khalil Pasha clenched his fists in anger. The girl was the daughter of a well-known gangster. To pressure her father, he had brought her from her college. She was behaving boldly, just like her father, and this made Khalil even more furious.
“My dogs are hungry,” he said coldly. “I will feed them first. Then I will think about ordering something for you.”
When he returned with the dogs instead of shawarma, all of Tooba’s bravery disappeared. She was someone’s beloved daughter, but at that moment she felt scared and alone.
“S-sir, I was only joking,” she said nervously, like a frightened child.
“But I am serious,” he replied with a dangerous smile as he stepped toward her.
She panicked and moved back, trembling, wishing she was safe at home with her loving family.
