Cooperation across sectors is essential to create a positive environment for Art. 6 building projects: project integrity depends on transparent documentation, processes, and monitoring systems that address buildings’ complex value chains. To successfully tap into Art. 6 resources, governments need to clarify roles and responsibilities in addressing those aspects, across different institutions.
👉This is why Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), together with PEEB, gathered stakeholders in the workshop “Enhancing Institutional and Governance Readiness for Article 6 Implementation in Indonesia’s Buildings Sector”, on 4-5 November 2025.
In the workshop, representatives from multiple ministries and government institutions achieved:
🔹 A clear understanding of the governance structures, institutional coordination, and authorisation processes required to operationalise Article 6 in Indonesia.
🔹 Strengthened awareness of the technical, legal, and data prerequisites for developing and registering mitigation activities under Article 6.
🔹 Identification of entry points for the buildings sector within Indonesia’s evolving carbon market framework, along with capacity-building needs across ministries.
🔹 An agreement on practical next steps to support inter-ministerial collaboration and readiness for future cooperative approaches in the buildings sector.
