Pennsylvania College of Technology welding faculty recently trained on an electron beam welder to prepare for the arrival of such a unit during the Fall 2019 semester. Thanks to a partnership with Cambridge Vacuum Engineering, Penn College will be the first U.S. educational institution to feature an electron beam welder. It's estimated that more than 200 students will have access to the EB welder throughout the academic year. Rooted in the aerospace and automotive sectors, electron beam welding is employed to manufacture small components in a variety of industries, such as medical, oil and gas, and semiconductor.
