No. Sydney is not the capital of Australia. Canberra, on the other hand, is.

It actually started as a feud between Sydney and Melbourne back in the days, and as they couldn't agree on where to put the capital, they made a compromise with Canberra being the result.

We only had one night in Canberra, which made it hard to get a really good impression whether or not this place has a lot to offer, but we were fairly positive after having spent a handful of hours around the city.

Because it is a quite big city (400.000 people) spread on an also quite big area, which gives the city a spacious feel much like Singapore, where everything is open, modern and clean. There is no doubt that Canberra is a wealthy city with many things going for it.

It's probably not the place you would go on a holiday, and perhaps also not the place you would drive a long way to see, but if you are in the vicinity it's definitely worth checking out.
