Dermatology Physician Assistant Arrested for OVI at Almost TRIPLE the Limit

Описание: Around 12:21 AM on February 13, 2024, Officer Brown with the Solon Police Department observed a black 2022 Chevy Trax travel through a red light on SR 91 northbound at the intersection with Linden Drive. She made a U-turn and activated her emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver pulled into the parking lot of the 7-11 located at 34050 Aurora Road. Officer Brown exited her patrol car and made contact with the driver of the Chevy Trax, who was identified as Gabrielle Cvengros.

As she was speaking with Gabrielle, Officer Brown detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment. Gabrielle claimed that she had gone wine tasting with a friend in Chagrin Falls. She admitted to consuming 2 or 3 glasses of wine earlier that evening. She was having trouble locating all her necessary documents, and Officer Brown asked her what her highest level of education was. She responded that this was embarrassing and that she worked for the Cleveland Clinic. It can be confirmed that she is a Dermatology Physician Assistant (PA).

Officer Brown asked Gabrielle to recite the alphabet starting at the letter “D” and ending on the letter “R,” which she could not do. She then asked Gabrielle to count backwards, starting at the number 63 and ending at the number 42. She recited the numbers as follows: "63, 64, 65, 63, 64, 65.” This was followed by asking her to perform a finger dexterity test. Based on her suspicion of impairment, Gabrielle was asked exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises.

Officer Brown started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. During the HGN test, Officer Brown observed the lack of smooth pursuit, distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, and the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test, and she did not touch heel-to-toe on each step while turning improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Officer Perry timed her on his phone. During the One Leg Stand test, Gabrielle failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and nearly fell over due to a lack of balance.

Based on her traffic infraction, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer Brown placed Gabrielle under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was transported to the Solon Police Department for further processing. At the station, the BMV 2255 form was read to her, and she agreed to submit breath samples. Her results indicated a BAC level of 0.223%, which was nearly triple the legal limit of 0.08%.
