In this video, I’m test-printing and assembling a modular Star Wars docking bay display cube designed for the Micro Galaxy Squadron ship line ahead of an upcoming Kickstarter!
But what really makes this project interesting isn’t just the display itself, it’s the story behind it.
Cube Squadron are collectors who saw a problem in their own hobby: there wasn’t a great way to intentionally display these ships. So they designed a solution, tested it, refined it, and turned it into a business. That’s a path I know very well from my own 3D printing journey creating action figure stands and dioramas.
This docking bay cube is part of a larger modular system inspired by Star Wars: A New Hope, with seven different cubes planned, some scene-specific, some universal, all designed to be stackable, wall-mountable, and ready for custom lighting.
In this video, I walk through the full print, assembly, final reveal, and take a look at the upcoming Kickstarter and what’s planned as the project continues to evolve!

Disclosure: Cube Squadron provided these files for test printing and promotional purposes.
If you’re a collector, maker, or someone interested in turning a hobby into a 3D printing business, I think you’ll get something out of this one!
