Browns vs Chargers Livestream 2021 NFL Week 5. This week the 3-1 #Browns take on the 3-1 #Chargers in Los Angeles. #BrownsChargersLivestream will feature two of the most talented young quarterbacks to ever have entered the National Football League. Justin Herbert, currently in his second year, holds the record for most touchdown passes as a rookie, a record he captured last year. This was the record that Baker Mayfield once held back in 2018, however Baker did it in less games. Both QBs have cemented themselves as being two of the top names in the league. Herbert has the statistical edge however Baker has easily solidified himself as the more widely known national name though his success in college as well as his many national endorsement deals.

The Browns are going to be without two of their top Left Tackles today with both Jedrick Wills and Chris Hubbard being listed as OUT. They will also be without star Wide Receiver Jarvis Landry and first round draft pick rookie Greg Newsome II. Luckily the Browns defense has been superb the last few games, only having given up a combined 13 total points in the last two weeks. Myles Garrett is off to his best season ever with six (6) sacks in the first 4 games. We could be witnessing a record setting year so long as Myles stays healthy and keeps up this level of production. His partner on the other side of the defensive line, Jadeveon Clowney, is quietly having a nice year of his own with ten tackles, three for a loss and two total sacks. Another huge difference maker has been with the emergence of second round rookie draft pick Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at the linebacker position. JOK is currently listed as the second overall linebacker in the NFL by PFF which is something the Cleveland Browns haven't seen in quite a while. JOK's dominance is reminiscent of the Clay Matthews era in Cleveland which many older Browns fans will remember of being a key anchor to the dominant defenses of his time in the late 70's and 80's. Clay Matthews is a hall of famer in the hearts and minds of many Browns fans. Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers will have their hands full with this defense today, one that hopefully continues their streak of keeping their opponent under double digit points.
On the offensive side the of the ball the Browns haven't been as sharp lately. They've done just enough to win games, but haven't been the team that was putting up thirty plus points the first two games of the season. Many people are placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of Quarterback Baker Mayfield, no pun intended. It was leaked this week that Baker suffered a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder against the Houston Texans, an injury that he's been playing through ever since. The injury itself isn't impacting him from a direct execution perspective, but it does somewhat change the way he's playing, specifically in his accuracy. Baker needs to improve by keeping the ball down and on target, something that he struggled mightily with last week against the Vikings. If Baker can keep from sailing long and medium length passes, and hit the short and screen passes, the Browns should be in good shape.
Where the Browns really show their strength is in the running game. The dynamic duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt is proving to be nearly unstoppable this year. This is the third year the two have been sharing the load in the backfield and it seems to finally be gelling. Hunt has scored a touchdown in each of the past two games whereas Nick Chubb scored three touchdowns in the first two games. The equal split amongst star running backs has been a huge advantage the Browns hope to continue leveraging this week and beyond as the constant chasing and tackling of these two has created situations in the 3rd and 4th quarter where teams are exhausted. This leads to even more Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt as the second have has proven to be mostly downhill running for the pair
The LA Chargers certainly have stars of their own including Joey Bosa who was recently charged a $29,000 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct against the Raiders after he confronted officials for a call that he disagreed with. The Bosa vs Garrett matchup is one that will be of interest to a lot of people throughout the league, as both look to claim the spot of best defensive player in the league.
