After Ireland recognized Palestine as a state on May 28, Irish Member of Parliament Thomas Gould gave an impassioned speech condemning Israel’s genocide against Palestinians, saying hehoped that Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government burn in hell like they burned Palestinians alive in a “safe” camp in Rafah.

[Norway, Ireland and Spain announced on May 22 that they recognize the state of Palestine, which includes the Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem, West Bank – and the Gaza Strip.

Ireland's prime minister, Simon Harris, said that recognizing Palestine was a path towards a two-state solution, which he said is “the only credible path to peace and security for Israel, for Palestine and for their peoples”.

Speaking on May 28, when Ireland officially recognized Palestine, Gould condemned Israel’s genocide in Gaza, which haskilled more than 36,000 Palestinians including 15,000 children.“

The world stands by while 15,000 children are being slaughtered, 34,000 men and women and children. It's unbelievable. The genocide that's happening,” he said.

Gould said he held Netanyahu and his government accountable for all the slaughtered Palestinian children, women and men, saying, “I hope that Benjamin Netanyahu burns in hell.”

Gould then emphasized Ireland’s decision to recognize Palestine as a state, adding that what Israel has done to Palestinians will never be forgotten.“

We recognize Palestine, we recognize the human beings, just like every one of us. Shame on Israel. Shame on what you've done and will never be forgotten” he said.
