Gotta be clear: I took this idea from Danny Gatton, from his instructional video about the rhythm guitar approach.
Start with the first finger on the 7th fret - 5th string (playing an E), the second finger on the 8th fret - 4th string (playing a Bb) and the third finger on the 9th fret - 3rd string (playing an E again). You have a "Hammond sounding" C7 (without the root note). Slide the chord one step back (keeping the same shape) and you'll have a F7 (without the root note)...and so on...
