[HOOK – 0:00]
Welcome to my channel! I’m Swetha, and if the ocean calls you, you’re in the right place. Painting the sea might seem daunting, but stick with me — I’ll show you how easy and achievable it can be! 🌊
[INTRO – 0:22]
Isn’t this ocean view breathtaking? It's pure tranquility with soft skies, drifting clouds, and the dance of blue and gray waves against white foam. Inspired by this beauty, I’ll teach you how to create a simple, peaceful seascape anyone can paint.
[SKETCHING THE LAYOUT – 1:01]
We’ll start by sketching a winding sandy pathway leading to the water, framed by soft green and gold grasses. This creates a natural flow, inviting the viewer into the painting.
[BEGINNING THE PAINTING – 1:20]
For the foreground, I’m adding sand dunes and grass in shades of green, gold, and ochre. Notice how the light, rhythmic waves lead the eye toward the horizon, balancing movement and calm.
[LAYING THE WASHES – 2:26]
Starting with the sky, I gently stroke the paper with soft blues and purples, keeping the edges light and wispy. Then, I lay down yellows and greens for the sand and grasses, building a base for darker tones later.
[ADDING DEPTH – 3:39]
As we move closer to the foreground, colors get richer and brighter. Dark greens in the grasses contrast beautifully with the soft sky and water, creating depth and dimension.
[PAINTING THE WAVES – 4:02]
The ocean is our focal point. After the initial wash dries, I add rhythmic, flowing waves by preserving the white of the paper for the foam. Loose yet controlled brush strokes bring the water to life.
[ADDING SAND AND TEXTURE – 7:42]
For the sandy path, I blend yellow ochre, van dyke brown, and hints of green to mimic nature’s varied tones. Avoiding uniform blocks of color keeps the scene realistic and organic.
[GRASSES AND DETAILS – 9:06]
Using a dry brush technique, I add darker grass at the ground level and let lighter tones peek through. Random, organic strokes reflect the natural pattern of windswept dunes.
[PAINTING THE SEAGULLS – 13:52]
Here comes the fun part! Using white paint, I dot lively seagulls across the sky and water, adding a touch of movement. A hint of light gray beneath them creates convincing shadows.
[CLOSING THOUGHTS – 14:41]
You can create this peaceful scene too! With practice and patience, your own seascape will come to life. Don’t forget to LIKE this video if you found it helpful, and SUBSCRIBE for more watercolor inspiration.
