Day 35: Small Towns, Big Miles & Gate City Arrival | Nearing Tennessee

Описание: End of Day 35: The day began with an early start, packing up quietly after hearing nearby activity. Heading towards Duffield, VA, I discovered a monument commemorating the Guinness World Records' visit in 1991, recognizing it as the smallest town in Virginia with just 52 residents. A stop at Dollar General and Subway brought friendly conversations with curious locals about my journey so far.

The road ahead was a challenge: 15 miles of traffic, hills, and non-stop walking. Finally arriving in Gate City, I treated myself to a much-needed meal at a local Mexican restaurant. While the town itself offered little beyond historic markers, I found a suitable campsite behind a closed business—with a live outlet, no less! After covering 26 miles today, I’m now just north of the Tennessee state line, ready to cross it in the morning.
