About the grid in this video:
Basically, you need to draw a 20x20 grid.
The size of squares can be 5mm or 1/4".
(or a reasonable size for the length of one stitch)
If you use 1/4 squares, the whole size of the pattern becomes bigger than my 10cmx10cm, so it may look a bit different to mine.

If you are an experienced Sashiko enthusiast, you may wonder if it's easier to stitch on a 19x19 grid...and yes, you're right.
In that case, the first stitch will be on the top centre square, instead of the centre line.
(I made it 20x20 because I've done a series of patterns with this size on my videos before)

Also, you can stitch a bigger or smaller tree, using the same idea.
Draw your idea on paper first and plan how you stitch to see if the pattern works.
