Описание: In our previous videos, we have already discussed the 2PN stage which is the first stage that occurs after fertilization and the 4 cell stage on day 2 and day 3 stage i.e. cell stage which is the day three of embryo kinetics. In today's video, Dr Jay Mehta is going to explain the Blastocyst Embryo Stage i.e. embryo development on the 5th day.

In the day 3 embryo, we can count the number of cells and quite a laboratories do embryo freezing at this time. In the blastocyst embryo, we cannot count the number of cells like in previous stages. The inner part of the embryo is called as ICM-Inner cell mass and the outer cell are called trophectoderm cell and there is also the presence of a cavity.

Advantages of doing blastocyst embryo culture.
3 day 3 embryos are equivalent to one blastocyst embryo.
A Good blastocyst embryo has an implantation rate of 40%. The average IVF success rate is 35% and as the age of the female partner increases the success rate decreases.

The reason why labs allow the embryo to grow till the blastocyst stage because by the embryo stage someday 3 embryos get arrested and stop growing further. If you have blastocyst embryos which means it has withstood the day 3 to day 5 phase which is known as the morula phase. Technically blastocyst embryo is a better grade embryo than day 3 embryos. One thing to keep in mind even if multiple blastocysts are placed inside the uterus the success rate does not get enhanced.
The timelapse machine helps the doctor in selecting the best-graded embryo.
