Join us for a live conversation with Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Jon Rivas. We will go over the 8 day forecast and answer any questions.
Strong winds are already in place this morning as snow chances will only climb into the afternoon. Streaming snow showers are expected through the day lasting into the evening. Most of these will be light to moderate in nature and give way to minor travel impacts. A few harsher bands are expected as well that can lead to brief but a more impactful dip in travel conditions with visibilities dropping quickly and slick surfaces. Be aware of potential rough travel conditions as we go through the day. Gusts will be in the range from 30 to 40 mph with a chance for some stronger 40 to 45 mph. This will bring back the cold as temperatures will be in the 30s for the morning and drop into the 20s for the afternoon.
Additional snow showers to scattered light snow will be expected overnight as the winds stay strong. Lingering travel impacts are expected, but we should see improvement as the night goes on. Temperatures will continue to drop and we will bottom out near 10 degrees with subzero wind chills return around midnight. It will feel below zero through the entire day on Saturday and going into Saturday night. We will climb back into positive territory come Sunday, but that will bring in more clouds and the possibility for additional flurries.
The brief rebound for the end of the weekend will only lead to another very cold day on Monday. Strong winds will make it feel below zero for most, if not all, of the holiday under sunny skies. We won’t see a more substantial rebound until deeper into next week with some slightly above average temperatures return.
