Msi Gs65 Stealth 9sg Disassembling, TearLaptop, Upgrade SSD Detail Review
Disassembling the MSI GS65 Stealth 9SG to upgrade the SSD involves removing the bottom cover and accessing the internal components. Follow these steps carefully to ensure a safe and successful process:
Tools You'll Need:
Phillips screwdriver (small size)
Plastic pry tool
Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)
A compatible NVMe or SATA SSD for the upgrade
Steps for Disassembly:
1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect power
Shut down the laptop completely.
Disconnect the charger and all peripherals.
Flip the laptop over to access the bottom panel.
2. Remove the Bottom Cover
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws on the bottom panel. Note the location of each screw since some may vary in size.
Use a plastic pry tool to gently pry open the bottom cover, starting from one corner. Work your way around the edges carefully to avoid damaging the clips.
3. Locate the SSD Slot
Once the bottom panel is removed, locate the SSD slot. It's usually covered with a thermal pad or located near the center of the motherboard.
If a pre-installed SSD is present, you can upgrade by adding another SSD if a secondary slot is available or by replacing the existing one.
4. Remove the existing SSD (if applicable)
Unscrew the single screw securing the SSD.
Pull the SSD out gently at a slight angle.
5. Install the New SSD
Insert the new SSD into the slot at an angle and push it down gently until it is seated properly.
Secure it with the screw.
6. Reassemble the laptop
Reattach the bottom cover and press it down to secure the clips.
Tighten all screws to secure the bottom panel.
7. Power On and Configure the SSD
Boot the laptop and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing DEL or F2 during startup).
Check if the new SSD is detected.
If it's a new SSD, format and partition it via Disk Management in Windows.
