MSL: A perfect Career Option for Pharmacy and Medical Professionals

Описание: The role of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a specialized position within various healthcare industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and CRO. MSLs focus on specific therapeutic areas, such as Oncology, Cardiology, CNS, Hematology, and Women’s Health Care, as well as various disease states, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cardiovascular Disease, and Diabetes. Typically, MSLs hold advanced scientific training and academic credentials, such as a doctorate degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) in the life sciences.

MSLs are crucial to a company's success as they work throughout a product's life cycle to ensure its effective utilization. They also serve as scientific peers and resources within the medical community and provide scientific expertise to internal colleagues. However, the primary objective of the MSL role is to establish and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) - leading physicians at significant academic institutions and clinics.

Our speaker Camelia Biswas provided us with an overview of MSL and career options therein. Camelia did her M. Pharm (Pharmaceutical Technology) from Jadavpur University (2016-18). She started her career as Junior Formulator, R&D at Cipla. She then moved to MSL roles and worked with Biocon, Bayer (Therapy Lead, Sales) and MSL (MAPV). She currently works with Bayer Zydus Pharma Pvt. Ltd. as a Medical Science Liaison. She loves networking learning and sharing best practices on the current working dynamics of Pharmaceuticals and R&D. She is trying her bit to make this world a better place to live!
