As my trip through Xinjiang comes to an end, I went to the city of Hotan, on the southern edge of the Taklimakan desert. Despite being on the edge of a desert, Hotan is incredibly green. It's is a beautiful city and is known throughout China for its natural white jade deposits. According to the locals, if you’re lucky, it’s said that you can find a piece as big as your head in the Jade Dragon Kash River (and presumably retire). So, that’s exactly what I did!
