Here we are in the Valle de COCORA Colombia, on a hike to see The Valley of the wax palms! These are the tallest palm trees in the world and also Colombias national tree.

In this Salento vlog, we also visit the mirador which gives amazing panoramic views over the town. Salento Colombia is a beautiful Andean town in Colombias coffee district, with colourful buildings and vibrant streets and market place.

Valle de cocora how to get there
From Bogotá, head to the bus terminal salitre and catch the overnight bus to Armenia, when you arrive there are minivans straight to Salento every 20 mins.
You can then catch one of the jeeps or Willys as they are called here from Salento market place to the Cocora valley

The full loop of the Cocora valley hike usually takes 4 hours to complete, however… when we arrived there had been a landslide so we only got to do the shorter loop which took a few hours. It’s mainly uphill but if you struggle you can choose to take a horse.
