How to grow chrysanthemums / How to grow chrysanthemums from cuttings
This video shows you how to grow chrysanthemums from cuttings and includes updates across the 2 months growing cycle. You will need scissors, snips or secateurs, a jar of water and a pot with potting mix in once its time to pot up or you can sow them directly in the garden and skip this step altogether.
They are resilient plants that require little attention, flower profusely and come in a range of varieties. You could even get these running from bouquets in some cases.
These cuttings were taken in spring but could easily be taken earlier and stored on a window sill to give you a head start into spring.
Can all cuttings be taken in water?
No, not all cuttings can be taken in water. Softer green cuttings tend to do fairly well in water, things like basil and salvias; herbaceous plants.
Hardwood and semi-hardwood cuttings can survive in water but they tend to like damp but not waterlogged environments.
