The Church of the Dormition is on Mount Zion. It’s near David’s Tomb and the Upper Room, and it’s in the vicinity of the spot where Peter presented the message of the Gospel on Pentecost (Shavuot) days after the Messiah’s resurrection.
Acts 2: 1-4—“When the day of Pentecost [Shavuot] had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”
That’s when Peter explained that the Messiah is Yahweh: “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the Name of Yahweh will be saved.” (Acts 2: 21) He was talking about the Messiah.
