Описание: The annual West Lafayette Global Fest returns with its street festival concept—dozens of booths and multiple stages lining Northwestern Avenue and Columbia Street full of delectable delights, craft beer, cultural merchandise, and world music performances from every corner of the planet. The outdoor celebration of what this blue marble we call home can offer has been a cherished event in West Lafayette for decades.

Headlining the live music stage will be Gili Yalo, a musician who blends funk, jazz, and soul with traditional sounds from his Jewish-Ethiopian roots. Also slated to perform are Chicago’s Tuvergen Band, a Mongolian folk-fusion trio, and Lone Piñon, a New Mexican string band or “orquesta típica.” This international mixtape pairs well with the cultural sights, smells, and flavors that help make Purdue and West Lafayette exciting and diverse.

Initiated in 1902, Purdue Convocations was one of the first professional performing arts presenters in the United States. Each year, Convocations offers the region 30-40 performances of widely varying genres: Broadway-style shows, theater, dance, children's theater, world music, jazz, and chamber music, along with rock, pop, country and comedy attractions. With a vision for connecting artists and audiences in artistic dialogue and for drawing in academic discourse, Purdue Convocations aims to promote frequent exposure to and familiarity with human cultural expression in a multitude of forms and media.
