Autogenic Drainage for Airway Clearance

Описание: COVID-19 patients suffer from secretions stuck inside the lungs, making it difficult to breath. Autogenic drainage is a technique that helps with the removal of these secretions by facilitating cough. Further, as the name 'Autogenic’ suggests, it provides patients with the opportunity to help themselves, by draining and removing their own secretions.

Autogenic drainage is described as an airway clearance technique, solely conducted through breathing control. The patient must control breathing by adjusting the rate, depth and location of lung volumes during respiration.

Secretions are mobilized from the peripheral airway to the central airways. The technique moves the secretions at three different levels through breath control. There after it removes the secretions from the lungs by facilitating coughing.

Atmarpit Dr. Payalben, is a senior physiotherapist at Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital. She is been selflessly serving the Mission from the last 14 years.

She is a trained pulmonary physiotherapist, certified in Sensory integration from the University of Southern California, certified in Aqua Therapy from Switzerland, and certified as an international fitness professional from the Aquatic Exercise Association.
