Over the last few decades, the number and quality of Scleroderma Clinical Treatment Trials has increased tremendously. This talk will discuss:
1) Past treatment trials that have failed and those that have succeeded
2) The types of trials that are typically conducted for FDA approval.
3) The role of the sponsors in the design and conduct of the trial (Pharmaceutical companies, the National Institutes of Health, the DOD, Foundations)
4) The mandated oversight of trials of trials to ensure safety of participants and reliability of results
5) What is necessary to “qualify” for a trial – inclusion and exclusion criteria
6) Is a clinical trial right for you?
