Описание: UK Retail:
Data from the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) has revealed that retail sales volume in the country increased by 1.4% last month after dropping by 1.2% in March. During the month, retail sale values unadjusted for price changes increased by 1.9% following a growth of 0.6% in March. Driven by stronger clothing sales, non-store retail sale volumes rose by 3.7% during the month, recovering from a fall of 6.9% in the previous month. Food store sales volumes rose by 2.8% during the month, led by higher strong performance in alcohol, confectionery and tobacco in supermarkets, while supermarket food sales remained unchanged.
Online Subscription:
Shopper habits across all retail channels — such as 62% of U.S. households subscribe to retail memberships — can eventually affect how they shop for fresh produce. With that in mind, Chicago-based market-research firm Numerator launched its Retail Membership Tracker to analyze the emerging omnichannel landscape of retail subscription models, according to a news release. Overall, while Amazon Prime retains the highest satisfaction rate and Walmart+ has shown the fastest adoption, Target’s Shipt Everyday is breaking out with same-day delivery and capturing more trips, spending and share from subscribers than Amazon or Walmart.

Australia Woolworths:

Australia's Woolworths Group offered on Friday to buy 80% stake in online retailer MyDeal.com, as it looks to take on major internet retail giants operating in the country that includes Amazon.com. The $152 million deal involves Woolworths paying A$1.05 per share of MyDeal — a near 63% premium to the stock's last close on Thursday. MyDeal's shares surged about 57% and were on track to see their best day ever. The proposed buyout of MyDeal, one of Australia's largest internet retail businesses, aims to help Woolworths compete better with the likes of Amazon in the country, where it already has rivals in discount department stores Kmart and Target, stationery vendor Officeworks and hardware chain Bunnings — all selling goods that are also sold on Amazon.

China:
China reported a drop in retail sales and industrial production in April — far worse than analysts had expected. Retail sales fell by 11.1% in April from a year ago, more than the 6.1% decline predicted in a Reuters poll. Industrial production dropped by 2.9% in April from a year ago, in contrast with expectations for a slight increase of 0.4%. But manufacturing fell by 4.6%, mostly dragged down by a slump in the auto sector and equipment manufacturing, said Statistics Bureau Spokesperson Fu Linghui. In addition to Covid, he said industrial production faces pressure from insufficient market demand, rising costs and other factors.
Singapore:
Japanese eyewear brand, Owndays, is taking its premium concept store to Singapore’s Takashimaya shopping centre, the second store of its kind in the city state – and the world. Scheduled to open its doors to the public this Friday (May 20), the store will be home to a series of made-in-Japan eyewear and premium ophthalmic lenses curated exclusively for the premium concept. The brand said the design will follows the concept of “Japanese Luxury”, which was previously introduced at Marina Bay Sands last year.
