Perimeter means the total length of the boundary of a closed 2D shape.
In simple words, when we add all the sides of a figure, we get its perimeter.
👉 If we walk around a park or a field once, the total distance we cover is called the perimeter of that place.
Perimeter is measured in units of length such as:
centimetre (cm)
metre (m)
kilometre (km)

To measure boundary of land or playground
To put fencing around a field
To find the border length of a shape
Useful in construction and daily life
🔹 Basic Idea of Perimeter
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
Example:
If a rectangle has length = 8 cm and breadth = 5 cm
Perimeter = 8 + 5 + 8 + 5 = 26 cm
