Knowing how to properly adjust the nozzle on your 112 will ensure that you get a consistent and solid weld every time. There are two different types of heat swing systems and we will show you how to adjust both.
First you will want to make sure that the heat is off and the speed on your machine is set to ZERO. You will then want to swing the nozzle and check the placement. The nozzle should be squared and aligned with the face of the weld roller as shown (Close up on nozzle). If the nozzle is not square with the face of the weld roller this will cause waves due to overheating one side of the material. You will also risk not getting an even weld throughout the entire seam if proper alignment is not achieved.
You have 4 different adjustments for your nozzle.
1. Up and down.
2. Left and right.
3. In and out.
4. The nozzle and clamp itself to ensure squareness.
A good rule to follow is that the nozzle should about an 1/8” off of the weld track and an 1/8” inch away from the pinch point of the weld roller and track. This can vary depending on the material that is being used to weld. After you confirm that the nozzle is aligned properly you will want to push the pause button to put your heat swing into the up position. Then turn on your heat and put your speed to 10.
Once the heat has reached the desired temperature you will then check the nozzle a 2nd time. The reason we do this is because after heat is applied to the nozzle the tip will lower. Again you will want to follow the 1/8” rule we discussed earlier. You ideally want to hear a slight whistle coming from where the nozzle is blowing against the pinch point of the weld roller and the track.
If the nozzle is too low it will drag on your material and will cause burn marks and or push the material out from under the weld roller. If your nozzle is too high this will cause the nozzle to go on top of the seam instead of in between. Also if the nozzle is too high in the seam you will risk not getting a consistent weld.
After you are confident that the nozzle is in the correct position. Run a test weld to ensure that it is working properly. Some minor adjustments may still be needed depending on the thickness and type material.
