People on forums are always making parroted statements about vintage LP's sounding "bad." OK. WHY? You never get an answer. Just because a guitar is old, doesn't mean its a some "Holy Grail." The best vintage Pauls have higher wound PAF's, which are actually rather RARE. Most of them are low winds, 10,000 winds as Gibson dictated is only about 7.5K at most. In bridge position this is going to shatter windows. BUT, there's something else no one even notices. The braided wire more often than not does not age well. IT ROTS. I've personally tested rotted braid wire and it loses treble from the carbonization of the black cotton insulation and oxidation of the tinned braid.
Now you know.
