There are thousands of islands in the EU, and four of the member states are themselves island nations: the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Cyprus and Malta. In this programme we visit the smallest of the four, Malta, to focus on a key issue for all island-dwellers: how to feed themselves. In Malta, drought and a long-term lack of freshwater sources are ever-present problems, and 80% of food is imported. So what happens if climate change worsens local conditions for growing food?
