Roldanillo delivered today another textbook perfect flying condition! The morning low clouds burned off quickly and some high clouds moved away and we were left with wonderful cumuluses on the mountain at first and blue sky in the valley.
Around 11:00 was takeoff and 12:00 the start so I had a full hour to enjoy stress free flying at cloudbase. Unfortunately at the start time I did not move fast enough to the next core and I got myself lower than most and 30 seconds behind.
In a day like that it meant that I lost the leading gaggle from the beginning: as the pilots in front are also thermalling more efficiently, the initial gap is just growing wider during the tasks
The first thermal, on the hill north of La Union was confidence inspiring: averaging 4m/s it brought us back into the game very fast. The reminder of the flight was on conservative side, I did not want to dive too low, just wanted a good day to finish good!
First bus was the prize for fast packing. Icecream, coffee and delicious burger at Chicks concluded a perfect day!
Roldanillo is unleashing the powers: today was the carnival of flowers and the park was completely full. The next days will have more and more events and beautiful surprises!
