Development of railway and postal were one of the benefit side observed by many historians.
Rapidly development of railway in 1830s and 1840s pressurised for speedy construction in India. British government also consider it as an advantageous development where it enables rapid mobilisation and movement of troops during internal or external aggression.
The British also established an efficient and modern postal system and introduced the telegraph. The first telegraph line was from Calcutta to Agra was opened in 1853. Lord Dalhousie cut down the postage rates and charged a uniform rate of half an anna for a letter all over the land. Earlier, letter cost was dependent on distance it was to travel. Sometimes that cost goes up to four days of skilled Indian labours.
