Kavach: The Train Technology That Could Save Thousands

Описание: Kavach is India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, developed by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) in collaboration with Indian industry. It is designed to enhance railway safety by preventing train collisions and overspeeding through automatic intervention.
Kavach continuously monitors the speed and movement of trains using a combination of RFID tags, onboard computers, trackside equipment, and radio communication. If a loco pilot fails to respond to a signal or exceeds the prescribed speed limit, the system automatically applies brakes to avert accidents. It also provides real-time alerts to the driver about signal aspects and speed restrictions.
The system is especially effective in high-density routes and under low-visibility conditions such as fog. Kavach supports features like Signal Passed At Danger (SPAD) prevention, head-on and rear-end collision avoidance, and speed regulation. It aligns with global ATP standards while being cost-effective and tailored to Indian conditions.
