We have researched that halosulfuron in single or mixed formulations really controls nut sedge effectively but it induces hidden stress on root growth and development which results into reduction in fodder and grain yield of maize crop. That is why, it can not freely be suggested for the control of purple nutsedge from maize crop. Repeated application of any formulation of atrazine plus mesotrione may be preferred as alternate solution.
