Anchored in advancing the Philippines’ commitment to building a future-ready and sustainable development across the Southeast Asian region, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined fellow Leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for the Opening Ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

President Marcos Jr. vowed to champion the country’s advocacies in promoting an open, inclusive and rules-based international order as he meets with regional counterparts to continue strengthening cooperation among ASEAN Member States and Dialogue Partners.

He also expressed his full support for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairship this year and the vision of promoting inclusive and sustainable development within the regional bloc.

A significant highlight of the Opening Ceremony was the inclusion of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th Member State, where President Marcos Jr. and fellow Leaders officially signed the Declaration of Admission.

This year’s Summit focuses on the theme, ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability,’ emphasizing the Region's collective commitment to a unified, resilient and responsive community that addresses the needs of its people.
