Screens (2024) is a Tokyo love story about two people trying to reconnect in a world that won’t let them look up.
Suki and Nate reunite in Japan after time apart. But instead of being fully present, they’re pulled in different directions — by work, by ambition, and by the constant glow of their phones. What should feel intimate starts to feel distant.
This film asks a question we’re all living inside of:
Are screens bringing us closer… or quietly pulling us apart?
We live in a world of notifications, infinite scroll, and curated realities. We’re more connected than ever, yet sometimes further from the people right in front of us.
Screens was inspired by the novel Last Train to Us ( https://a.co/d/06cTOjAy ), co-written by QuHarrison Terry and Maria Telincho — a story about two lives intersecting in Tokyo, ambition colliding with love, and the fragile moments that define real connection in the digital age.
This film and the book explore the same tension:
How do we stay human in a world designed to keep us scrolling?
If this resonates, drop a comment.
I’d love to hear your perspective.
