We have had our front loading GE Washing Machines for 2 years. I do easy maintenance like wiping out the machine and running the "self clean" cycle but recently read the manual and didn't know you should be cleaning the filter as well! It took 2 minutes and was super easy! Keep your machine running well by taking a few minutes out our your day to clean your washing machine filter too.

I used a towel to catch the water, and I had a plastic knife to help me pop off the door, which I didn't end up needing. I rinsed the filter in warm sink water and used a clean paper towel to wipe out the channel before replacing the filter.
