I am SO excited to finally be releasing this video! It is the Final Episode of The Race for the Mushroom Kingdom. It is an all-out showdown between Mario, Luigi and Daisy against Bowser and his Koopas.

I started filming this video April 1st 2024 and finished filming August 30th 2024. I think this video now holds the record of the most amount of time I’ve spent on a video. For every 3-6 second scene, it means about 10-50 minutes of set-up, filming, take-down and editing. I’ll let you do the math.


One thing I really wanted to have with this video was to pull off as MANY tricks/jumps as possible. I also wanted the characters to actually LAND ALL THE JUMPS. So anytime you see a character JUMP OFF A JUMP AND STICK THE LANDING…it really happened. If you see three land together…it really happened. Which means it took as many as 50 tries to get some of the jumps. Historically I have often filmed a character jumping off a jump in one shot and then film them “landing” on the landing by basically pushing the kart going backwards and reversing the footage to make it look like they landed….but this time it was all real.


THE BIG JUMP
I wanted to bring back the jump that I feel made my channel gain some traction. That jump has had the most comments of Yoshi Jumping off Mario for a change and reversing the roles. But this time, I wanted to pull off the “Yoshi Sacrifice” but add a little twist to it.

The way I got the characters to make THE BIG JUMP. Was film them at one angle Jumping off the jumps down below. Then I attached a Neodymium magnet to the kart and then I stood on the opposite side of the cardboard with another Neodymium magnet directing them up to the landing up above. This time proved a little more difficult than the last time I did this years ago on that same cardboard…because while in storage it bent and had a big crease in it. So the characters kept becoming detached as the crease would often catch on a magnet. It took A LOT of takes but I was way stoked to have Yoshi flip right at the end to make the “Yoshi Sacrifice” even cooler.
