Track from Scratch – Dub Techno on the Octatrack
Rainy summer days in July 2025 gave me the perfect excuse to stay inside and write something slow, warm, and deep.
In this video, I build a full Dub Techno track from scratch on the Octatrack – no external gear, no DAW, just one sampler and a fresh cup of coffee.
I'm using sounds from my sample pack Dub Techno Chords Vol. 1. You'll see how I turn long, evolving chord samples into a rich, modulated main synth line.
We’ll explore LFOs, filters, and tricks to keep the pattern moving and alive – no loops that sound like loops.
This is all done on the Octatrack, but the same approach works with most modern samplers, hardware or software.
It’s not about the machine – it’s about how you shape the sound.
