Also Check Out www.stuffthatsgone.com this is part two of the abandoned road to Cokeville. In 1950 the Conemaugh Dam in Nearby Blairsville was built to secure flood waters making its way to Pgh PA. Several towns had to be abandoned or moved to allow for the flood plain. Cokeville became an abandoned town. This is the road and bridge piers that remain today, and when the water is high, what you are seeing is under water for the most part. This is a coke oven mining town at the turn of the century. Nothing is left of it but what you see here.
