Our expert team led by Professor Simon Kay successfully completed the UK's first double hand transplant in July 2016.
Chris King, from Doncaster, was only the second person in the country to have a hand transplant, following on from the Leeds team pioneering the technique on Mark Cahill in late 2012.
Chris lost both his hands, except the thumbs, in an accident involving a metal pressing machine at work and was overjoyed at having the transplant operation.
